The effect of energy absorption during the binary evolution Exotic-compact-objects (ECOs) is extensively studied. We review underlying mechanism that provides dissipation in material objects - tidal friction. show unlike typical astrophysical objects, where due to viscosity negligible, ECOs, could potentially mimic analogous black-holes (BHs) heating. stand for their differences and similarities context inspiral. Inspired by membrane paradigm recent studies, we demonstrate how a defining feature quantifies close ECO classical BH absorption. can induce significant modifications GW waveform, which some favorable scenarios super-massive binaries equal mass spin, enables measurement future precision gravitational-wave (GW) observations. Finally, discuss implications on reflection coefficient relation universal volume entropy bound.

Cluster Heating by Viscous Dissipation of Waves
We simulate the effects of viscous dissipation of waves that are generated by AGN activity in clusters of galaxies. We demonstrate that the amount of viscous heating associated with the dissipation of these waves can offset radiative cooling rates in cooling flow clusters of galaxies. This heating mechanism leads to spatially distributed and approximately symmetrical dissipation. The heating wa...

متن کاملViscous dissipation effects in microtubes and microchannels
The effects of viscous dissipation on the temperature field and ultimately on the friction factor have been investigated using dimensional analysis and experimentally validated computer simulations. Three common working fluids, i.e., water, methanol and iso-propanol, in different conduit geometries were considered. It turns out that for microconduits, viscous dissipation is a strong function of...
متن کاملNumerical Models of Viscous Accretion Flows near Black Holes
We report on a numerical study of viscous fluid accretion onto a black hole. The flow is axisymmetric and uses a pseudo-Newtonian potential to model relativistic effects near the event horizon. The numerical method is a variant of the ZEUS code. As a test of our numerical scheme, we are able to reproduce results from earlier, similar work by Igumenshchev and Abramowicz and Stone et al. We consi...
متن کاملThe dissipation approximation and viscous potential flow
Dissipation approximations have been used to calculate the drag on bubbles and drops and the decay rate of free gravity waves on water. In these approximations, viscous effects are calculated by evaluating the viscous stresses on irrotational flows. The pressure is not involved in the dissipation integral, but it enters into the power of traction integral, which equals the dissipation. A viscou...
